Origins

The Honoring is one expression of an impulse throughout the world to recognize and celebrate our human connection.

Various proponents of this principle include:

The Living Wake - a ceremony for receiving the appreciation of family and friends before one dies

Open Satsang-
a meditative teaching format acknowledging the wisdom in each person

A Course In Miracles- whose teaching equates one person's acceptance of healing with the healing of the world

It also draws from all Truth teachings which recognize a Spirit transcendant of any one path or denomination, but available equally to all, by whatever name it is called.

The Honoring (formerly entitled SongCircle) unites these various ceremonies and principles together with:

The spontaneous-singing heritage of the troubadors of medieval Europe

Ecstatic Baul singers of India

The chanting of Taize, the devotional singing of Kirtan.

The spontaneous mystic poetry of Rumi

For anyone curious about this approach or its authenticity in the lineage of spiritual traditions, The Honoring has no intention to replace or usurp any other tradition or practice.

As an enrichment and enhancement of whatever practice and method you are already engaged in, The Honoring can provide a witnessed confirmation of the deepest awareness one intuits regarding their place in the universe, in the family of humankind, and of all life.
